Elmer & Sherry Komant

Article Pic Elmer & Sherry Komant are Lacombe Pentecostal Church's main sponsored missionaries. The Komants have given themselves to the planting of an English speaking, multicultural church in Kigali, Rwanda. With the government allocation of 17.29 acres of land for the church's development comes the privilege and responsibility of building a permanent church structure with relevant training and education programs, such as a training center for underprivileged, orphaned and x-child soldiers, a day school and sports facility as well as an AIDS counseling center, that will contribute to the welfare of a needy society.

· Pray for God's provision for the church building project and continued favor with the government in relation to duty, taxes and permissions.
· Pray for national revival and continued peace and healing for Rwanda as it is still struggling under the weight of rebuilding following the genocide of 1994.

Dan & Marty McMillin-Cambodian Connections

Dear Friends,
Season's greetings! We hope you are enjoying Christmas this year with those you love. We always miss you this time of year. This is our fourth Christmas in Cambodia! Can you believe it? Time is marching right along, but the good news is always the same; it's not screeching out of control. Instead we are reminded that God is still at work in the world bringing to pass all the details of His plan of salvation through His perfect gift, Jesus.

Some of the details from our perspective are really exciting. Alot has happened since our fall newsletter. I'm sure you are wantong to know more about PU Muen's condition. Although Muen is not getting stronger physically, his inner man is being renewed day by day. He and his family have not lost heart and continue to grow in their understanding of God's grace in their lives. Recently Marti and I took Muen and Lien (his wife) to a national park area for a retreat, responding to their request that we talk about what Christians really believe about their own death, and what should be done with the body. The Living Waters Church has not yet had to face the death of one of its members. The Buddhist traditions handed down to them need to be examined in the light of God's word. Some might think it a morbid subject, but we had a great time focusing on the hope we have in Christ. We're finding that Muen's desire is to give himself more fully to the Lord. On our way home he asked if we sould like to stop and meet his nephew just down the road. "Yes" we said, we had a nice visit with some of his relatives. Afterwards, he spoke of wanting to see them come to know the Savior and have the same Christian fellowship we have. Please Pray for this potential new beginning of outreach, and for protection for those willing to step out in faith.

Other promising opportunities to get excited about are also presenting themselves. My Cambodian pastor friend Borin, is desiring more of our input in order to provide training for house church leaders spread over four provinces. This is a huge challenge that needs our attention. A recent survey concluded that the Church in this country is still very much in the infancy stage, most represented having been established just over six years. Leaders are still young in their faith and need alot of encouragement and direction. We'd love to be part of the work that helps stimulate vision for future growth Please pray that World Team's Ministry approach would be sensitive to the pace of the Church here, and that everything we say and do would be motivated by Christ's love for the Camodian Church.

Field leadership has asked Dan to head up a Phnom Penh ministry team as several field members are now far enough along in language acquistion. Pray for wisdom in creating the right conditions for an effective team that builds on each other strenghts. Presently this team has James and Lynette Cottle, Susan Kana and the McMillins working together to develop an urban ministry plan. We'll be working closely with Living Waters Church and other nationals desiring to impact the city and inturn this whole country. Pray for lots of mutual understanding and unity among expats and nationals as we model solid relationships.

Marti continues to teach inductive Bible studies on Wednesday night and I am half way through the Firm Foundations study at Kouk Jom Bok village at Muen's house.

We are happy for Leah as she has been given a full scholarship at a very nice international school here in Phonm Penh. She starts there in January. Heidi and Joe are doing great at Logos Internationa School. Heidi enjoys playing on the basketball team and Joe signed up again to be part of the Phnom Penh soccer league this year. Olivia is growing fast. She has a special realtionship with Lien who's in our house every day. We at times think about the fact that in another year and a half, we have to let Leah return to Canada to go to college. We have to make a the best of every opportunity we get to spend time together as family. This Christmas we plan to make a bus trip over the border into Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam with a friend from our home church. Should be an awesome time.

Merry Christmasn and Happy New Year.
For His Glory
The McMillan Family
